Bangladesh Permits Trial of COVID 19 Vaccine by Chinese Company
The Chinese firm Sinovac Biotech Limited has been given the approval to conduct the final stage trial of coronavirus vaccine, by the Bangladesh Medical Research Council. The National Research Ethics Committee has given approval for this prospective vaccine by the Chinese company.
The regulator has kept in mind the benefit and interests of Bangladesh while giving the approval along with the prospect and safety issues of the said vaccine. The development of the vaccine by the Chinese company has also been studied in detail before according the final approval to the company. The trial of this vaccine is also underway in China. International Centre for Diarrheal Disease Research, Dhaka, has submitted a proposal to carry out the third stage of the clinical trial in the country.
This trial will be performed on healthcare professionals in the designated seven hospitals in the country since they have been the frontline warriors against the disease in any country of the world. Though a formal agreement with the company is under process, an understanding has been reached by both the parties to carry out the trials for the time being.
According to the BMRC, 2100 volunteers will be administered this vaccine and another 2100 people would remain beyond vaccination to gauge the efficacy of the vaccine.
Sinovac is hopeful that all the trails for the vaccine will be over by November and it will be proved safe and effective for human beings.
In this regard, Chinese state-owned company Sinopharm is also going to start clinical trials of a COVID 19 vaccine in Abu Dhabi very soon. As of now, around 23 vaccines are at various stages of clinical trials across the world through any conclusive decision has not been reached yet.
