Bangladesh inaugurates India-funded Science Block in Chittagong College

The Information Minister of Bangladesh and the Indian High Commissioner have inaugurated the new science block at the Alipur Rahamania College in Chittagong in Bangladesh. The science block has been constructed under the High Impact Community Development Project funded by India at the cost of 51.43 lakh takas. The block has been inaugurated through video conferencing.

Under the High Impact Community Development Program, India extends support to building projects in various important and crucial sectors such as education, IT, health, restoration of museum, cultural and heritage structures, disaster management and urban development. The projects are selected based on the developmental aspect of such projects for the local communities in the target countries.

The construction of the building was complete in January 2020 itself but due to the COVID 19 pandemic, the inauguration has been kept on hold till date. Apart from the construction of the building, a sum of 7 lakhs takas has been allocated under the HICDP program of the government for computers and educational materials.

The new building will benefit students as well as the local village in Bangladesh.
