Ayushman Bharat: 2 crore hospital admissions so far
Poor have sought 2 crore hospitalisations so far under the Ayushman Bharat Mission.

- Ayushman Bharat Mission guarantees free and cashless services up to Rs 5 lakh in a year for secondary and tertiary care.
- It covers more than 10.74 crore vulnerable families amounting to more than 53 crore beneficiaries.
- Top six specialities and procedures that beneficiaries sought includes: infectious diseases, general medicine, general surgery, obstetrics & gynaecology, medical oncology and orthopaedics.
Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PM-JAY)
It is a national health insurance scheme of the state that was launched with the aim of providing free access to healthcare for low-income earners in India. Around bottom 50% of the country are beneficiaries under this scheme. People under this program access their own primary care services from a family doctor. For additional care, scheme provides free secondary health care to those who need specialist treatment and tertiary health care to those who require hospitalization.
When it was launched?
Ministry of Health and Family Welfare launched this scheme in September 2018. However, this scheme is administered by National Health Authority which was set by the ministry.
Nature of the scheme
This scheme is a centrally sponsored scheme. It is funded by the union government as well as the state government.
National Health Authority
This organisation is responsible for implementing Ayushman Bharat Scheme at the national level. In the States, State Health Agencies have been set up to implement the scheme.
