October 23, National Safety Awards:
The Ministry of Labour and Employment, instituted the National Safety Awards (Mines) in the year 1982-83 to recognize and encourage the exemplary performance for prevention of accidents in mines. These awards were given away for the first time in the year 1984 for the contest years 1982 and 1983 and thereafter, regularly every year. The award scheme is operated by the Directorate General of Mines Safety (DGMS), Dhanbad.

October 23, 2009: David O Selznick honour (Life Time Acievement) to John Lasseter
John Lasseter , creator and director of ‘Toy Story’ is Hollywood animation stalwart. He has received a lifetime achievement from the Producers Guild of America.He is the first animator to receive the David O Selznick honour.

October 24, 2009: Osian’s Cinefan Film Festival
Romanian film ‘Hooked’ was the first film to be screened in the 11th edition of the Osian’s Cinefan Film Festival.

  1. Writer , song writer and director Gulzar was honoured with the Lifetime Achievement Award.
  2. Indian Film Khargosh, directed by Paresh Kamdar, ‘Khargosh’, won the awards for Special Mention, Audience Award and for combining the real and the imaginary world and its lyrical beauty of images.
  3. ‘The Long Night’ of Syria scooping up the Best Film Award.

October 24, 2009: Nandi Film Awards 2008
Nandi Film Awards are confered by Andhra Pradesh Government. The Nandi Film Awards 2008 were declared in in 65 categories.

  1. Telugu actor Ravi Teja was declared Best Actor for his lead role in ”Neninthele”.
  2. Swathi was named the Best Actress for her performance in ”Asta Chemma.
  3. Jagrlamudi Radhakrishna bagged the Best Director Award for making ”Gamyam,” based on Oscar winning movie ‘Motorcyle Dairies’.
  4. Comedian Brahmanandam bagged the Allu Ramalingaiah Award for his role in ”Ready”.
  5. Sonu Sood was selected as Best Villan for his performance in ”Arundhati”.
  6. Bharat was selected the Best Child Actor for his role in ”Ready”,
  7. Divya Naresh won the Best Child Actress Award for her role in ”Arundhati”.
  8. Alari Naresh, for his captivating performance in ”Gamyam,” got the Best Supporting Actor Award, while Actress Raksha won the Best Supporting Actress Award for her impressive portrayal in ”Nachavule.”
  9. Mukka Raja was named the Best Character Actor for his role in ”1940 Lo Oka Gramam.
