Atmospheric new particle formation

Atmospheric new particle formation or NPF is a phenomenon of development of molecular clusters and their growth in the atmosphere. This process occurs in different environments and is important for its role in formation of particulate matter in the air. A recent study showed that NPF is a regional phenomenon but its development into haze is a local phenomenon. According to the study, the smallest particles are formed from ammonia, amines and gaseous sulfuric acid.
