Assam cabinet approves bamboo and can policy

On 18 Nov, Assam cabinet has approved Assam Bamboo and Cane Policy with the objective to achieve sustainable development and utilization of bamboo and cane resources in the state through scientific management and stakeholder’s participation.

The policy also aims at protection and conservation of biodiversity and enhancement of resources in the state of Assam. The establishment of Bamboo Market, Rural ‘haats’ and other infrastructure will be promoted under the policy.
