Ashish Kumar Chauhan is all set to become the new chief of National Stock Exchange (NSE).

- Candidature of Ashish Kumar Chauhan was cleared by ‘Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI)’.
- He will become the managing director (MD) and chief executive officer (CEO) of NSE.
- Presently, he is the MD & CEO of the BSE.
- His name was cleared after Vikram Limaye resigned the office of MD & CEO of the NSE.
- Now, approval from shareholders will be required in for Ashish Kumar Chauhan to take charge of NSE.

The NSE had put forward the names of two candidates for the office of MD & CEO.
Four-member internal panel
NSE has formed a four-member internal panel to look after the responsibilities of MD & CEO until Ashish Kumar Chauhan joins. Members of the committee are:
- Chief Financial Officer of NSE Yatrik Vin
- Chief Regulatory Officer Priya Subbaraman
- Chief Technology & Operations Officer Shiv Kumar Bhasin
- Chief Enterprise Risk Officer K S Somsundaram.

Ashish Kumar Chauhan is the current MD & CEO of Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE). This is his second five-year tenure. His tenure is scheduled to end in November 2022.
Who is Ashish Kumar Chauhan?
Ashish Kumar Chauhan is alumnus of IIT and IIM. His career started at IDBI Bank, before he moved to NSE. He worked in developing derivatives segment at the NSE, during 1993-2000.
