Artificial Intelligence in Defence’ (AIDef) symposium and exhibition
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh inaugurated the first ever “Artificial Intelligence in Defence (AIDef) symposium and exhibition” on July 11, 2022.
About AIDef symposium and exhibition
- The AIDef symposium and exhibition was organised by Department of Defence Production under Ministry of Defence, as a part of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav. It sought to promote “Aatmanirbharta” in Defence sector.
- During the exhibition, department will showcase AI-enabled solutions that have been developed by Services, industry, research organisations, and start-ups & innovators.
- All these products belong to the fields of automation or unmanned or robotics systems, human behaviour analysis, cyber security, logistics & supply chain management, intelligent monitoring system, speech/voice analysis and C4ISR (Command, Control, Communication, Computer & Intelligence, Surveillance & Reconnaissance) systems.
- Apart from 75 products being launched, 100 products are in different stages of development.
Panel Discussions during the event
Panel discussions on “GenNext AI solutions”, “Deploying AI in Defence”, and “AI in Defence – Industry Perspective” were held during the Artificial Intelligence in Defence (AIDef) symposium and exhibition event. Services, students, academia, industry and research organisations actively took part in the discussions.
GenNext AI Solutions Competition
GenNext AI Solutions Competition was also held to listen to bright innovative ideas from students regarding futuristic AI solutions. Experts will felicitate top three ideas. During the event, an exhibition of AI products was also organised.
AI task force on Defence
Government has created an “AI task force on Defence” in 2018. It was established to provide a road map on promotion of AI in defence. On the recommendations of the task force, Defence AI council is leading the efforts.
Defence AI Council
Defence AI Council is headed by defence minister.
