April 2: World Autism Awareness Day
Every year, the World Autism Awareness Day is observed on April 2 by the members of United Nations. The day is observed to take measures to increase awareness about Autism Spectrum Disorder.

What is Autism?
Autism is a developmental disorder. People with autism face difficulties in social interaction and communication. The related signs shall be noticed in the first three years of the child’s life.
Factors associated with Autism
The Autism is caused due to genetic factors and environmental factors. It also includes risk factors during pregnancy. They are alcohol, pesticides, fetal growth restriction, air pollution and auto immune disease.
Significance
According to the United Nations, only half of those with autistic behaviour are employed and around one-third autistic graduates are unemployed. Therefore, it is important to increase awareness about autism and help autistic people lead normal lives.
