APEDA signs MoU to set up a Liason Office in Guwahati, Assam
On February 3, 2020, APEDA (Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority) signed MoU with CSIR-CFTRI (Council of Scientific and Industrial Research-Central Food Technological Research Institute). According to the agreement, the CSIR-CFTRI will provide technical support to the food industries in the North East Region.
Highlights
APEDA will set up a Liason Office. A Liason office connects people and coordinate activities between officers. The newly set up office will work towards promoting organic agricultural exports and food processing. The centre will also works in augmenting the export of traditional food products in the region.
Recent Measures of APEDA in the North East
The APDEA has launched several measures to develop the North East Region. It organized 5 international buyer seller meets in 2019. The meets were conducted in Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Tripura and Sikkim. It aimed at showcasing the potential of horticulture, organic foods and agriculture of the region.
Several outreach programmes have been organized to train the stakeholders of the North East region in export processes.
