The conference will feature presentations, panel discussions, and workshops. The focus will be on utilising satellite data for weather and climate studies.
Objectives of AOMSUC-14
The conference aims to highlight satellite observations’ significance, which seeks to advance satellite remote sensing technology. The event will create a platform for collaboration among satellite operators and users. Updates on current and future international space programmes will be shared. The conference will encourage the development of new weather satellite technologies. Young scientists will be actively involved in the discussions.
Key Participants
About 150 participants from various countries are expected to attend. Dr. Jitendra Singh, India’s Minister of State for Earth Sciences and Space, will inaugurate the conference. Other notable attendees include Dr. M. Ravichandran, Secretary of the Ministry of Earth Sciences, and Nilesh M. Desai, Director of ISRO’s Space Applications Centre. Dr. Allen Huang, Chair of AOMSUC, will also participate.
History of AOMSUC
AOMSUC began in Beijing, China, in 2010, which has become annual event for meteorologists, scientists, and satellite experts. The conference attracts students and professionals globally. Each year, it serves as a valuable platform for discussions on satellite applications in weather, climate, and environmental issues.
Pre-Conference Activities
An international training workshop will occur on December 2-3, 2024. It will host 70 trainees from various countries, including India. This workshop aims to enhance skills in satellite technology.
An international coordination meeting will follow the conference on December 7. This meeting will involve members from Regional Association (RA)-II and RA-V countries. The goal is to improve global collaboration in satellite technology for weather and climate forecasting.
