Antibiotics in Crops registered under Insecticide Act 1968

The Union Minister of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Narendra Singh Tomar in a written reply to the Lok Sabha on Tuesday, 10th December 2019 informed that Aureofungin, Kasugamycin, Validamycin, and Streptomycin+Tetracycline combination are the antibiotics that are registered under the Insecticide Act 1968.
These antibiotics are used as pesticides to combat bacterial and fungal diseases in plants and the use of these pesticides is regulated under the Insecticide Act 1968 and the rules framed thereunder.
Pesticides are toxic substances but they do not pose any adverse effect on the environment, human beings, and the animals if they are used as per the leaflet and label approved by the Registration Committee. Pesticides are registered for use in the country only by the Registration Committee after satisfying about their efficacy and safety for the environment, human and animal health.
