Amazon India launches Military Veterans Employment programme

Amazon India has launched a Military Veterans Employment programme in country. This initiative of e-commerce giant will create employment opportunities for military veterans as well as their spouses across company’s sort centres, delivery centres and fulfilment centres in India.

About Military Veterans Employment programme

Partnership: Amazon India is partnering with office of Director-General of Resettlement (DGR), an Inter Service organization functioning directly under Department of Ex-Servicemen Welfare (Ministry of Defence) and Army Welfare Placement Organisation (AWPO) to create continued work opportunities for military families across India. AWPO is a non-profit organization which helps in placement of ex-servicemen, widows, children of widows and dependents of serving or retired servicemen.

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between Amazon India and DGR is in final stages of approval and participation of Amazon in all upcoming job fairs across India has been approved by DGR.

Over the years, Amazon India has hired military veterans into various roles across company such as customer fulfilment, transportation, security operations and facilities management..

With two pilot programmes underway, Amazon India seeks to scale Military Veterans Employment programme as well as extending company’s engagement to hire remarkable talent from Indian Army, Indian Air force (IAF), Indian Navy and Police families in future.

Globally, Amazon has more than 17,500 military veterans and spouses actively engaged in programme.
