Alternatives for Endosulfan to be studied by FAO

The FAO (Food and Agriculture Organization) will assume studies on integrated pest management alternatives to Endosulfan, a decision taken by the Persistent Organic Pollutants Review Committee of the Stockholm Convention. This verdict was taken as a carry out to the resolution of the CoP to the Convention in April to list Endosulfan and its isomers for abolition with immunity for particular crop-pest complexes. It had call for the review committee to assess alternatives to Endosulfan.

India during the discussions raised query on how to measure the choices, in the dearth of total info on the 84 recommended alternatives. Chair Reiner Arndt (Germany) explicated that modelling might be employed in the dearth of information.
