Aghoni & Bhogali
‘Aghoni’, is a ‘soak and eat variety’ of rice that is fit to be consumed just by soaking it in normal water for 40 minutes without any boiling or steaming. This variety has been developed by the Regional Agricultural Research Station in Assam Agricultural University. There’s no need to boil and the rice need only stay in the water for it to soak in the moisture. There are other varieties of this kind. Worth mention is Bhogali which is available in the country.
