Africa's first electronic ballot used in Namibia

Namibia has become first country in Africa to use electronic voting in their presidential election. For the first time 1.2 million Namibian’s are expected to cast their votes electronically in the country’s 5^th election since independence.
Around 3400 India-made Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) will be used for this elections.
In April 2014, Namibian government had purchased these EVM form India’s public sector unit, Bharat Electronic Limited (BEL), Bangaluru.
This purchase was done after, the seven-member delegation from the Electoral Commission of Namibia (ECN) were impressed by the EVM system after they had visited polling stations in Karnataka including Bengaluru, during Lok Sabha polls in April, 2014 17.
Other countries using Indian made EVM’s: Asian countries Nepal, Bhutan have purchased India-manufactured EVMs and using it. Fiji is expected to use Indian EVMs.
