Aero India 2023: 251 MoUs signed

Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently inaugurated Aero India 2023, an air show hosted by the Department of Defence Production operating under the Defence Ministry. It was held in Bengaluru, Karnataka. More than 32 defence ministers participated in the show. 251 Memorandum of Understandings worth Rs 75,000 crores were signed. About Aero India 2023

More than 809 Indian and foreign companies participated in the show. This is the 14th edition. The show is conducted once in two years. Every year the show is hosted at the Yelanhanka Air Base located in Bengaluru. Different Government entities take responsibility for hosting the show at different times. For instance, in 2021 the show was hosted by DRDO.

Key Highlights of the 2023 Aero India Air Show

Tapas-BH of DRDO made its debut in the show. Tapas is an Unmanned Aerial Vehicle. It fulfils the ISTAR requirements of the Indian military. ISTAR is Intelligence, Surveillance, Target Acquisition, and Reconnaissance. It can operate to 28,000 feet.

US at Aero India 2023

Lockheed Martin is a US-based company. The company too showcased its defence capabilities at the show. This is being done to let the IAF know about the company’s most innovative defence capabilities such as F-21 fighter aircraft, MH-60R, C-130 transport aircraft, etc. The Indian Navy recently acquired the Sea Hawk Helicopter from the company. Apart from the US, more than 80 countries participated in the show.

Vintage DAKOTA too performed at the show

The Indian Air Force performed a scintillating performance with their Sarang Helicopters, Tejas, Rafale, Sukhoi-30 MKI, and Jaguar.
