AEG12
AEG12 is a mosquito protein. Scientists at the US National Institute of Health found that the protein has the ability to inhibit viruses that bear the protective outer envelope. The protein functions by ripping out lipid molecules from the envelop and destabilising it. It was found to be effective against the flaviviruses- a family that includes members that causes the dengue, west Nile disease, Zika disease, yellow fever, etc. The protein showed mild activity against coronaviruses too.
