The Khangchendzonga National Park is located in Sikkim. It is home to musk deer, snow leopard, Himalayan tahr, etc. It is in news recently because the Capitol Complex of Chandigarh, Khangchendzonga National Park of Sikkim and Nalanda Mahavihara of Bihar are recently listed in the UNESCO World Heritage Sites at the 40th session of the World Heritage Committee meeting in Istanbul, Turkey.This is the first time that any country got 3-sites inscribed in the Word Heritage List at a single session of the committee meeting. A World Heritage Site is a place (such as a building, city, complex, desert, forest, island, lake, monument, or mountain) that is listed by the UNESCO as being of special cultural or physical significance.
