IFFI’s Golden Jubilee Edition to be held in Goa
The Golden Jubilee Edition of International Film Festival of India (IFFI) will be held from 20-28 November 2019 in Panaji, Goa. The announcement regarding IFFI 2019 was made by Prakash Javadekar, Union Minister for Information and Broadcasting following the steering committee meeting of IFFI 2019 in Panaji.
About IFFI
Background: IFFI is being organised in Goa since 2004 under the leadership of then chief minister of Goa Late Manohar Parrikar. Before 2004 festival was organised in some other states as well. The 2019 IFFI edition would also pay tribute to Parrikar considering his contribution towards the event and making Goa the permanent venue for the festival.
IFFI 2019-
Partner: In this years’ edition i.e. 50th International Film Festival of India Russia will be IFFI’s partner.
Organiser: IFFI 2019 is being organised in Panaji jointly by Directorate of Film Festivals and state-run Entertainment Society of Goa (ESG).
This year road shows will be organised in 7 cities on occasion of golden jubilee year of prestigious film event.
Business exhibition during event will showcase latest technology, film production and distribution and other aspects regarding films.
To mark 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi in 2019, separate exhibition depicting the life of the Father of the Nation will be also held.
Students from Film and Television Institute of India (FTII) and Satyajit Ray Institute of India and students from some other film institutes will be a part of IFFI to gain some hands on experience.
Invitees: John Bailey, President of Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences and other eminent producers and cinematographers have been invited for event.
The Ministry concerned is also working on idea to rope in some private theatres for viewing of cinema to reach out to masses.
