Union Government bans NSCN-K banned for 5 years
Union Government has banned Naga rebel group National Socialist Council of Nagaland- Khaplang (NSCN-K) for five years. The organisation has been banned under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967.
Mihir Shah Committee constituted
The Ministry for Water Resources has constituted a 7-member committee led by former Planning Commission member Mr. Mihir Shah to restructure the Central Water Commission (CWC) and the Central Ground Water Board (CGWB) to encourage optimal development of water resources in India. This committee will work on water resource planning, augmenting and budgeting in an integrated manner.
UIDAI shifted from Niti Aayog to IT Ministry
The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has been shifted to the administrative control of the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology from Niti Aayog. The Cabinet Secretariat has amended Government of India (Allocation of Business) Rules, 1961 and put it under Department of Electronics and Information Technology (DeITy), Ministry of Communication and Information Technology. Earlier, UIDAI was the part of Planning Commission.
Supreme Court Launches National Judicial Data Grid
Supreme Court has launched public access portal of the National Judicial Data Grid (NJDG) for district courts to demystify the judicial process for the ordinary citizen. The public access portal will disseminate national, state, district and court-wise information about institution and disposal of cases on a monthly basis. The NJDG will also provides daily statistics on case pendency before the courts under the e-courts projects.
Niti Aayog sets up T Haque committee on Land Leasing
NITI Aayog has constituted an expert group on Land Leasing under former Commission for Agricultural Costs and Prices (CACP) chairman Mr. T Haque.
This committee has representations from seven states viz. Andhra Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Maharashtra, Assam, Rajasthan, Meghalaya and Joint Secretary H S Meena from the Department of Land Resources. It will review existing agricultural tenancy laws of states, including hilly states and schedule areas, to examine the distinctive features of land system in erstwhile zamindari, ryotwari and mahalwari areas. Further, it would also suggest appropriate amendments, keeping in view the need to legalise and liberalise land leasing for much needed agricultural efficiency, equity, occupational diversification, and rapid rural transformation. It will also prepare a model agricultural land leasing act in consultation with states.
