West Bengal government to construct ‘Safe Houses’for foreign ex-convicts in jail
The West Bengal Government has decided to construct two Safe Houses for foreign prisoners, whose period of punishment have been completed and waiting for extradition . These houseswill come up at Bongaon and New Town in North 24 Paraganas District for stayingof foreign prisoners after completion of punishments in Indian jails. Accordingto National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB), 284 Bangldeshi , 25 Nigerian , 5Pakistani , 3 Nepalese , 2 China and few Myanmar nationals are still inthe jails of West Bengal after completion of their punishment period and theirextradition are not being effected due to legal tangle.
