The following table shows the production of major Plantation Crops in India during 2008-09:
- Among the 4 major plantation Crops, India produces maximum of the Coconut, followed by Cashew nut and Areca Nut.
- In Cashew nut production, India is second largest producer after Vietnam.
- In Coconut India is third largest producer after Indonesia and Philippines.

Maharastra is India’s largest Cashew nut producing state. The following graphic shows the share of the states in Cashew nut production in the country. Maharastra is followed by Andhra Pradesh and Orissa.
Karnataka is India’s largest Areca nut producing state which has a share of around 50% areca nut production in the country. The following graphic shows this:
Kerala is India’s largest Cocoa Producing state. The following graphic shows that Kerala shares for more than Cocoa Production in the country. Kerala is followed by Karnataka which produces less than half of the Cocoa produced by Kerala.
Kerala is also largest Coconut producer state of India. The following graphic shows the largest Coconut Producing states in India.
