Maharastra Assembly Elections 2009
The 13th Assembly elections were held in Maharashtra, on October 13, 2009. Voters elected the 288 members of the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly in newly organised assembly constituencies after the delimitation approved in 2008. The results were declared on October 22, 2009.
Poling recorded was 60% , however Mumbai Town registerd 48% polling. The turnout was slightly better in suburban Mumbai at 52%.

New Government :
The INC emerged as a largest party. However after the results on October 22, a bitter tug-of-war ensued between the Congress and the NCP over the power-sharing formula, which was resolved in a fortnight. This paved the way for the formation of the new ministry and Ashok Chavan sworn in as New Chief Minister of Maharastra.
