Delhi to Open Six World-Class Skill Centres (WCSCs)

The government of Delhi has decided to open six World-Class Skill centres (WCSCs) in the national capital to prepare students to acquire different professional skills.

About the World Class Skill Centres

The decision to open the World Class Skill Centres was announced by the Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in 2017. The features of these skill centres are:

  • The six skill centres would be opened at  Institute of Basic Business Studies (Pusa); Integrated Institute of Technology Dwarka, Delhi Pharmaceutical Sciences and Research University; Society for Self Employment (SSE), Wazirpur; SSE, Jhandewalan; and RIT Rajokari.
  • These skill centres would be set up at the unutilised space in the existing buildings of ITIs, polytechnics, degree colleges and universities.
  • The courses in Health and Wellness, IT and IT-enabled Services, Retail Management, Hospitality and Tourism, Accounts, Banking and Finance, Automobile, Electronics, Media and Event Management, Production and Manufacturing, Apparel and Food Production will be provided in these skill centres.
  • The government would set up six World class Skill Centres in phase 1 and 19 more Skill centres in Phase two.

The government of Delhi had announced the decision to open 25 World Class Skill Centres after the success of the first WCSC at ITI, Vivek Vihar, started in 2013.
