Foundation Stone of Institute of High-Altitude Medicinal Plants (IHAMP) laid in J&K

On December 15, 2018, the foundation stone of Institute of High-Altitude Medicinal Plants (IHAMP) was laid by Union Ministers Jitendra Singh and Shripad Yesso Naik (Ayush Ministry).
Location & Functions
The Institute of High-Altitude Medicinal Plants will be located in Bhaderwah in Doda district of Jammu & Kashmir. It will provide research in medicinal plants and promote cultivation of medicinal plants. The institute will also provide employment and promote medicinal plant in foreign market.
Cost
The estimated cost of the construction of Institute of High-Altitude Medicinal Plants is Rs 100 crore.
Focus on Research
Institute of High-Altitude Medicinal Plants will be a pioneer in research on medicinal plants. It will help the farmers in cultivation of medicinal plants in a scientific manner. Training and capacity-building in the field of medicinal plants will also generate employment opportunity for youth in the region.
