The Ayushman Vay Vandana scheme was launched by the Delhi government to provide comprehensive healthcare coverage for senior citizens aged 70 and above. Chief Minister Rekha Gupta inaugurated the scheme alongside Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri. The scheme offers free medical treatment worth up to ₹10 lakh annually, combining benefits from both central and state government health programmes.

Scheme Details

The Ayushman Vay Vandana scheme is designed to enhance healthcare access for elderly residents in Delhi. It provides ₹5 lakh coverage from the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB PM-JAY) and an additional ₹5 lakh from the Delhi government. This dual coverage ensures that senior citizens receive adequate medical support.

Eligibility Criteria

To qualify for the scheme, applicants must be permanent residents of Delhi and aged 70 years or older. A valid Aadhaar card is mandatory for registration. Senior citizens already enrolled in other health schemes must choose between continuing their current benefits or switching to the Ayushman Vay Vandana scheme.

Benefits Offered

The scheme provides several key benefits. Eligible seniors receive an annual health insurance cover of up to ₹10 lakh. They can access cashless treatment at both government and empanelled private hospitals across India. Additionally, all diagnostic tests and health check-ups are free. Each beneficiary receives a personalised health card that contains their medical history and emergency service details.

Hospital Access and Treatment

The scheme enables beneficiaries to access treatment at empanelled hospitals. All public hospitals in Delhi are automatically included, while private hospitals are empanelled by state health agencies. Seniors can find empanelled hospitals using the PM-JAY hospital finder portal, ensuring they receive necessary medical care.
