Elihu Yale

From 1687 till 1692, Elihu Yale remained the governor of the British East India Company at Madras. He was instrumental in the development of the Government General Hospital, housed at Fort St. George, but he was a corrupt and amassed a lot of wealth due to his secret contacts. He was removed later.

  • But he put the money of his corruption to good use and established the Yale College, in England, which on April 5, 1999 celebrated its 350th anniversary.
