69th Ati Vishisht Rail Seva Puraskar Ceremony

Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw recently honored outstanding railway officials and zones at the 69th Ati Vishisht Rail Seva Puraskar ceremony in New Delhi. The event recognized the dedication of 101 railway officials and awarded 22 shields to top-performing zones.

Significant Achievements in Indian Railways

Indian Railways has made remarkable progress over the past decade. Key developments include the Kashmir to Kanyakumari rail link and enhanced connectivity in the North-East. The electrification initiative aims for 100% completion by 2025. Successful projects like Vande Bharat and Namo Bharat have improved services, while freight corridors have been developed to streamline cargo transport.

Safety and Technological Innovations

The Kavach safety system has been extensively implemented to enhance safety measures. Station redevelopment projects are progressing well, leading to a substantial reduction in accidents, from 345 to 90. A new super app is being introduced to elevate the passenger experience.

Vaishnaw emphasised the need for improved safety, maintenance, and training. Plans for innovative maintenance practices and better inspection systems are in place. Increased training for officers and technicians is essential for ongoing improvements.

Commitment to Passenger Services

Satish Kumar, Chairperson & CEO of the Railway Board, reaffirmed Indian Railways‘ commitment to affordable and world-class services. He brought into light the importance of speed, comfort, and safety in railway operations. Modernisation projects, such as Amrit Bharat Station, aim to enhance accessibility with features like lifts and escalators.

This recognition celebrates the efforts to make Indian Railways safer, more efficient, and more passenger-friendly.
