Dinesh Bhatia Appointed Ambassador to Brazil
Dinesh Bhatia has been appointed as India’s next Ambassador to Brazil, according to an announcement from the Ministry of External Affairs. Bhatia’s diplomatic career spans several countries and roles. He has important experience in international relations.
Current Role
Bhatia is currently serving as India’s Ambassador to Argentina. He has held this position since August 2019. He was also accredited to Uruguay and Paraguay until February 2022.
Previous Positions
Bhatia has served as Consul General in Toronto. He was also Ambassador to Cote d’Ivoire, Guinea, and Liberia. His career includes roles in Indian missions in Madrid, Kathmandu, and Kuwait.
In India, Bhatia worked with the Department of Atomic Energy in Mumbai. He served as Private Secretary to the Tourism Minister. He has held various roles in the Ministry of External Affairs in New Delhi.
Educational Background
Bhatia joined the Indian Foreign Service in 1992. He trained at the Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration. He also attended the Foreign Service Institute in New Delhi. He is an alumnus of the National Defence College.
Bhatia holds a Bachelor of Engineering in Electronics and Communication. He graduated from Delhi College of Engineering. He is a Fellow of the Institution of Engineers. He is also a member of the Institution of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers.

In addition to diplomacy, Bhatia is an author. His notable works include “Devi Purana—A Rendition of Srimad Devi Bhagavatam” published in 2023. He also authored “Physics for Civil Services Prelims” in 1994.
