India Global Forum’s Middle East & Africa 2024 (ME&A 2024)

The India Global Forum’s Middle East & Africa 2024 (ME&A 2024) commenced in Dubai, a two-day event that unites leaders from India, the Middle East, and Africa. The theme is ‘Limitless Horizons’, and over 200 speakers and 1,000 participants are present.

Keynote Addresses

India’s Commerce and Industry Minister, Piyush Goyal, delivered a recorded message. He praised the robust relationship between India and the UAE. Goyal brought into light the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA). This agreement has boosted trade to $85 billion annually. He encouraged collaboration towards India’s Vision 2047 and the UAE’s Vision 2071.

Strengthening Bilateral Ties

Indian Ambassador to the UAE, Sunjay Sudhir, spoke on the rapid progress between the two nations. He described their relationship as a corridor of trade, technology, talent, and trust. Sudhir noted that CEPA was finalized in just 88 days, reflecting strong mutual trust.

Manoj Ladwa, Founder and Chairman of the India Global Forum, emphasised that India-UAE ties extend beyond trade. He stated that the forum aims to transform momentum into practical benefits for the region. Ladwa stressed the need for collaboration to tackle challenges like poverty and climate change.

This fourth edition of the forum occurs at important time for India-UAE relations. Significant developments include a new Bilateral Investment Treaty and an agreement on civil nuclear cooperation. The UAE ranks as India’s third-largest trading partner, with bilateral trade reaching $83.65 billion in 2023-24.
