Khichi’s Background

Mahesh Khichi is a first-time councillor from Dev Nagar. He is 45 years old and a financial advisor by profession. He completed his BCom from Motilal Nehru College in 1999. After his victory, Khichi expressed gratitude to his supporters and party leadership.

According to the Delhi Municipal Corporation Act, mayoral elections should occur annually in April. However, two main issues delayed the elections – the imposition of the model code of conduct for the Lok Sabha polls and the absence of a presiding officer appointed by the Lieutenant Governor, V K Saxena.
