RINL Bags 3 Gold Awards at International Convention on Quality Control Circles 2024
The International Convention on Quality Control Circles (ICQCC-2024) took place in Colombo, Sri Lanka. It was held from 11th to 14th November 2024 in a hybrid format, accommodating both in-person and online participants. The event was organized by the Sri Lanka Association for the Advancement of Quality and Productivity (SLAAQP).
RINL’s Participation
Three Lean Quality Circle (LQC) teams from Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Limited (RINL) participated and represented the Visakhapatnam Steel Plant. The teams included ‘ARMOR’ from the Special Bar Mill (SBM), ‘TARANGINI’ from Quality Assurance & Technology Development (QA&TD), and ‘SADHANA’ from Steel Melt Shop-1 (SMS-1). Each team presented their innovative case studies online.
Case Study Highlights
The ‘ARMOR’ team focused on minimizing downtime of Power & Free hook (P&F) chains. Their study aimed to eliminate structural damage. The team members included Shri B V Sivaji, Shri Mamidi Aditya, Shri Nammi Pruthvi Raj, Shri Sanyasi Rao Yalamanchi, and Shri Dhanunjaya Kuruba. The ‘TARANGINI’ team addressed cyanide determination in water. They employed micro diffusion cells for accurate measurements. The team comprised Smt Garica Sheshamma, Ms Anshika Hotiyal, Smt Snigdha Liticia Nag, Smt Yalla Vijaya Sowjanya, and Smt Mahadasu Geethasri. The ‘SADHANA’ team presented modifications to Surge Hopper-2. Their work aimed to enhance operational efficiency. The members included Shri Srinivasa Raju V, Shri Bhanu Kiran Banda, Shri M Satyanarayana, and Shri I Mohana Rao.
Awards and Recognition
All three teams achieved remarkable success by winning the prestigious “GOLD Awards” at ICQCC-2024. This achievement adds to RINL’s history of excellence in international competitions. The organisation has previously received numerous awards at international levels.
