November 13, 2009 : Shailesh Matiani State Teaching Awards of Himachal Pradesh Government: To 28 teachers.
Uttarakhand government has fecilitated 28 teachers of the state with Shailesh Matiani State Teaching Awards.
November 14, 2009: National Child Awards on Bal Divas
Twenty-five children with exceptional skills and talent in various fields were given the National Child Awards on Bal Divas, November 14,2009. The awarded children in the age group 4-15 years have shown exceptional achievements academics, art, culture and sports. Nov 14 ,2009 : Sat Paul Mittal National Award 2009 : Bindeshwar Pathak
Social activist and founder of Sulabh International sanitation movement Bindeshwar Pathak was Thursday awarded the Sat Paul Mittal National Award 2009 for services to humanity. Award carries Rs.400,000 (Rs.4 lakh) in cash, a medal and a citation. •Bindeshwar Pathak is a Padma Bhushan recipient from the Government of India.
- Bindeshwar Pathak had received the Energy Globe Award, the Dubai International Award for Best Practices, and the Indira Gandhi Priyadarshini Award for Environment.
- He was also the winner of the 2009 Stockholm Water Prize.
- He was also recently honored by the Intergovernmental Renewable Energy Organization at the United Nations headquarters in New York on June 12, 2009 for developing low cost toilet technology to produce energy out of human excreta.
South African President Jacob Zuma has been awarded the title of ‘Best African President’ for his role in the country’s struggle for liberation . The following people were fecilitated in the Africa Consciousness Media Leadership Awards.
- Afro-Pop legend Miriam Makeba was awarded the ‘Great Daughter of Africa’ for her artistic role in addressing the challenges faced by the Africans during the colonial era.
- The late First Lady of Nigeria, Stella Obasanjo, was honored with ‘Best African First Lady’ of the Year.
November 13, 2009: Ezhuthachan Puraskaram(Kerala’s Highest Literary Recognition) award : Sugathakumari
Poetess Sugathakumari, a Malyali Poetess has been chosen for Ezhuthachan Puraskaram, the highest literary recognition instituted by the Kerala Government for her contribution to Malayala poetry.
November 14, 2009: M S Swaminathan award : Subrahmaniam Nagarajan
The prestigious M S Swaminathan Biennial award for Best Agriculture Scientist for 2009-10 was conferred on Wheat Pathologist and Plant Varieties and Farmers’ Rights Authority Chairman Subrahmaniam Nagarajan

November 16, 2009: National Award for Commercial and RRBs for financing the highest number of Solar Home Lighting System (SLS): Aryavarta Grameen Bank
Aryavarta Grameen Bank (AGB) is chosen for the National Award for Commercial and RRBs for financing the highest number of Solar Home Lighting System (SLS) during 2009-09.The Award was instituted by USAID, WINROCK International and the Union Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE).
Earlier Aryavarta Grameen Bank had won the prestigious ASHDEN Award also known as Green Oscar,
November 17, 2009: Nirmal Gram awards 2009: 28 Block Panchayats and 2 District Panchayats from Kerala, Karnataka, Mahrashtra and West Bengal
Twenty-eight Block Panchayats and two District Panchayats from Kerala, Karnataka, Mahrashtra and West Bengal were felicitated on the occasion for achieving total sanitation in their respective areas.
Those Panchayati Raj Institutions that have attained full sanitation coverage and completely eliminated the practice of open defecation are awarded the prestigious Nirmal Gram Puraskar every year. About 5,400 Gram Panchayats have qualified for Nirmal Gram Puraskar in their respective states in 2009.
November 17, 2009: International Essilor Award : Dr Gullapalli N Rao
Dr Gullapalli N Rao, Founder-Chairman, LV Prasad Eye Institute has been conferred upon the prestigious ”International Essilor Award for
outstanding contributions to Global Eye care and optometry” by the American Academy of Optometry. He had also receieved ”International Blindness Prevention Award” from the American Academy of Ophthalmology 2006.
