Management of Widows Home: Ministry of WCD signs MoU with UP Government
The Union Ministry of Women and Child and Development (WCD) has signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Uttar Pradesh Government for management of Home of Widows at Sunrakh Bangar, Vrindavan. The MoU will be in force for period of 2 years and may be renewed for further period on satisfactory running of shelter homes of widows.
Key Facts
Ministry of WCD has constructed this shelter home for widows with a capacity of 1000 inmates. It will be run by Uttar Pradesh Government themselves or by any state government institution or civil society or reputed non-government organization (NGO) to be decided by state government.
According to MoU, UP Government of will be responsible for activities including setting up mechanism for identifying beneficiaries, providing residential care to widows, deploying staff as per norms with prescribed qualification and experience.
The MoU also includes provisions for facilitating Aadhar Cards for all inmates and medical and geriatric care for inmates. It further states that senior officials of UP Government will visit and check security staff periodically and monitor their performance.
