The Telangana government aims to develop Musi riverbanks for commercial use, inspired by South Korea’s Great Hangang (Han River) project. The river flows through Seoul and empties into the Yellow Sea. Telangana’s plan was to attract private firms to develop riverfronts similar to the Han River model.

A new genus of jumping spiders, ‘Tenkana,’ was discovered across southern India. The genus includes two known species and a new species, Tenkana jayamangali, from Karnataka. The name “Tenkana” comes from Kannada, meaning “south,” reflecting its southern India and northern Sri Lanka presence. Tenkana belongs to the Plexippina subtribe, distinct from related genera like Hyllus and Telamonia. These spiders prefer dry, ground habitats and are found in Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Telangana, and Andhra Pradesh.

The Union Environment Ministry’s wildlife panel has delayed approval for the National Highway Authority of India’s (NHAI) four-lane project through Rajaji Tiger Reserve and Shivalik Elephant Reserve in Uttarakhand. This highway aims to connect Najibabad in Uttar Pradesh to Kotdwar in Uttarakhand. Rajaji National Park is a crucial habitat for tigers, leopards, and over 300 bird species. The reserve spans Haridwar, Dehradun, and Pauri Garhwal, covering 820 km in the Shivalik range. Named after freedom fighter Rajgopalachari, it has high species diversity due to its unique location. It is part of the Terai-Arc landscape.

An Indian travel vlogger visited Indonesia’s Korowai tribe and shared the experience online. The Korowai tribe lives in the southeastern part of Papua, Indonesia, deeply connected to the forest for survival. They hunt and gather food from the forest and are known for their treehouses, built 8-15 meters high, some reaching up to 45 meters. The tribe had little contact with the outside world until 1975. They value equality and have no hierarchy. While historically linked to cannibalism, this practice has largely faded over time.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah inaugurated the 14th All India Civil Defence and Home Guards conference at Mahatma Mandir in Gandhinagar. The conference was held after 19 years. More than 60 senior officials and 1,200 members from different states participated in this event. The focus was on discussing the draft Civil Defence Bill and Model Home Guard Bill. The conference aims to enhance efficiency through modern technology in civil defense and home guard operations across India.
