Union Ministry Launches iGOT Lab for Ministry Employees
Dr. L. Murugan, the Union Minister, has started the creation of an iGOT Lab (Integrated Government Online Training Lab) within the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting. This new initiative will help Ministry employees improve their skills through online learning. It comes after a detailed review of the Ministry’s annual Capacity Building Calendar and progress on the iGOT portal, which is a platform for government employees to access various training courses.
Objectives of the iGOT Lab
The main purpose of this iGOT Lab is to support continuous professional development. By offering online courses, the Ministry wants to help its employees improve their skills and knowledge, making them more effective in their jobs.
Onboarding Timeline
Dr. Murugan has set a deadline of October 19 for all Ministry employees to be fully registered and using the iGOT portal. This tight deadline shows the Ministry’s strong focus on quickly adopting digital learning methods.
Recommended Courses
The Ministry has chosen 16 important courses that will help employees improve their abilities. These courses include:
Budget Management: Learning how to manage finances.
Gender Sensitization: Understanding gender equality and creating inclusive workplaces.
Leadership: Developing leadership skills to guide teams.
Team Building: Learning how to work well together as a team.
Incentives for Participation
To encourage employees to take part, the Ministry will recognize and reward those who complete the most courses each quarter. This will create a culture of learning and motivate employees to improve their skills regularly.
Workshops and Communication
The Ministry also plans to hold workshops to explain its learning agenda and goals to all employees across its various media units. These workshops will ensure that everyone understands the Ministry’s strategic objectives and works together toward achieving them.
Focus on Grievance Handling
In addition to the iGOT Lab, Dr. Murugan reviewed how the Ministry handles grievances and RTI applications (Right to Information). He emphasized the importance of resolving issues quickly and efficiently to maintain transparency and accountability within the Ministry.
