The goal of this project is to protect more than 30 million hectares of land and sea, and it includes helping protection efforts led by indigenous people. There are a few important areas that the GEF Trust Fund is focused on
- Heavy businesses like cement, textiles, and glass are being worked on in Bolivia and Brazil to cut down on pollution.
- Two important projects are being funded in India:
- A $6.7 million project to improve the protection of biodiversity and grow protected places that is in line with the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework.
- A $10.7 million plan to protect marshes, forests, and grasslands that are important for migrating birds along the Central Asian Flyway. The GEF also supports projects in Argentina and Central Asia that aim to improve the management of protected areas and stop the loss of wildlife. In Namibia, the Game Product Trust Fund aims to make protected areas more financially stable.
