New Arunachal Industrial Policy to Boost Investment, Reforms

In recent news from Arunachal Pradesh, Chief Minister Pema Khandu has started several important policy changes after being sworn in. With these changes, Arunachal Pradesh will become a more developed area over the next five years as part of a larger plan called “Viksit Arunachal.”

Introduction of Reforms 3.0

Reforms 3.0 are one of the most important things that the new government has done. This includes 24 citizen-centered projects that aim to make different parts of government and management better. It is the goal to digitize all of the government’s main duties, starting with the Finance and Planning Departments, so that all transactions can be done digitally.

Improvement in Governance and Administrative Efficiency

The government wants to improve governance by doing several things, such as setting up a bottom-up planning process for better growth through Vision Plans at the district level. Important offices for last-mile service delivery are being strengthened as part of efforts to streamline administrative tasks. A Committee of Secretaries is also being set up to review safety and legal frameworks, and an Institute for Transforming Arunachal (ITA) is being created to drive innovation. The Cabinet will set up a commission called the Administrative Reforms Commission to make suggestions for better ways to organize and hire people.

Socio-Economic Development Initiatives

Socioeconomic improvement is a key part of the reform agenda. This includes making sure that the whole state is connected physically and digitally, improving educational outcomes in line with the National Education Policy 2020, and promoting progress in agriculture and horticulture through a new policy. Also, some programs, like the updated Dulari Kanya Scheme, aim to provide incentives for girls’ higher education.

Enhancement of Tourism and Infrastructure

The government is going to release a full Tourism Policy because they know that tourism can be a big economic driver. This will include industries like film, farming, wine, ecotourism, and homestays. This will make the state more appealing to guests from both inside and outside the country and create jobs for young people in the state. A new Master Plan is also being made to develop the twin capital towns of Itanagar and Naharlagun, to make cities better places to live.
