Bharat BillPay Enables SBI NCMC Card Recharge
National Payments Corporation of India’s (NPCI) wholly-owned subsidiary NPCI Bharat BillPay Limited (NBBL) has partnered with State Bank of India (SBI) to enable online recharge of SBI’s National Common Mobility Cards (NCMC) through the Bharat BillPay platform. This move aims to provide a convenient and seamless top-up facility to NCMC users while avoiding long queues.
The NCMC recharge facility has already gone live for SBI NCMC cards for transit systems like Noida Metro, Nagpur Metro, MMRDA Line 2A & 7, Chennai Metro, Kanpur Metro, and also for Parliament Canteen via SBI’s Bharat BillPay-enabled app called SBI Unipay. More platforms are expected to enable this service soon.

- Customers can recharge their NCMC cards with up to Rs. 10,000 online through various Bharat BillPay-enabled apps and portals
- Multiple payment options supported including credit cards, debit cards and prepaid payment instruments
- Instant reflection of recharge amount on tapping the NCMC card at the transit terminal
- Enhances convenience for travellers by enabling anytime anywhere recharge facility
- Aligns with the Government of India’s vision of a cashless economy and the adoption of interoperable transport cards
About NCMC
- National Common Mobility Card is an inter-operable transport card conceived by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs of the Government of India.
- It enables seamless travel by different metros and other transport systems across the country besides retail shopping and purchases.
- The NCMC card is isued by banks and last-mile operationalization is done by transit system operators.
- SBI is one of key issuers of NCMC cards.
About NPCI and Bharat BillPay
- Set up in 2008, NPCI is an umbrella organization for all retail payments in India.
- It aims to facilitate digital payments and financial inclusion through it’s various products like Bharat Bill Payment System (BBPS).
This initiative is a one-stop platform for facilitating all recurring bill payments. It interfaced between billers and customers through a network of agents and online portals for enabling bill payment services.
