India-US Tri-Services Conduct Joint Exercise “Tiger Triumph 2024”

India and the US have participated in military-to-military exercise, “Ex Tiger Triumph 2024,” involving their tri-services. The 14-day exercise, which began on March 18, 2024 aims to enhance interoperability, strengthen bilateral relations, and refine capabilities in humanitarian aid, disaster relief (HADR), and sub-conventional operations.

About Ex Tiger Triumph

“Ex Tiger Triumph” involves the Indian Army, Navy, and Air Force, along with their US counterparts, fostering interoperability and strengthening bilateral relations. The exercise is conducted in two phases: the harbour phase at Vishakhapatnam and the sea phase at Kakinada.

The harbour phase focuses on communication checks and personnel exchanges between the participating forces, facilitating an exchange of best practices and operational techniques.

Indian Army Contingent

The Indian Army is represented by a 700-strong integrated battalion group, showcasing newly procured weapons and state-of-the-art technological infusions. The contingent comprises components from infantry, mechanized infantry, para special forces, artillery, engineers, and other supporting arms, along with multiple drone systems and anti-drone equipment.

Harbour and Sea Phases

The exercise is being conducted in two phases:

  • the harbour phase at Vishakhapatnam and the sea phase at Kakinada. The harbour phase focused on communication checks and personnel exchanges between the participating forces.
  • The sea phase, which commenced on March 27, involves strategic moves to a simulated island country, setting the stage for complex operations.

Key Operations

The exercise will feature a ship-to-shore move, demonstrating the precision and coordination required for amphibious operations. Additionally, establishing an Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) camp will be a key focus, reflecting the commitment to humanitarian assistance and disaster relief operations.

IDP Camps

The sea phase involves strategic moves to a simulated island country, setting the stage for complex operations such as ship-to-shore moves and establishing Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) camps.

Ship-to-shore moves demonstrate the precision and coordination required for amphibious operations, involving troops swiftly disembarking and establishing secure perimeters. Establishing IDP camps reflects the commitment of both forces to humanitarian assistance and disaster relief operations, highlighting the importance of efficient planning and execution.
