Raisina Dialogue Conference 2024

On February 23rd 2024, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated 9th edition of prestigious Raisina Dialogue conference in New Delhi focused on key global issues, in presence of Greece Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis as chief guest.

About Raisina Dialogue

Annual Raisina Dialogue jointly organized by Indian Ministry of External Affairs and independent think tank Observer Research Foundation has emerged as India’s most high-profile geopolitics and geo-economics forum since launch in 2016.

2024 Edition Theme

The theme guiding discussions during three-day event is “Chaturanga: Conflict, Contest, Cooperate, Create” encapsulating ongoing global uncertainties and turbulence but also opportunities through partnerships.

Inaugural Session Proceedings

Both Prime Minister Modi and guest Greek PM Mitsotakis delivered keynote addresses at inaugural session chaired by Indian External Affairs Minister Dr. S Jaishankar highlighting growing convergence between both nations as “civilizational states”.

Strengthening India-Greece Bonds

Mitsotakis emphasized on shared universal values and ancient roots steering modern India-Greece solidarity, also evident in deepening economic ties, mutual investments and enhanced defence collaboration as “old democracies and new economic powers”. Greece and India discussed plans to strengthen ties in trade, defence and migration.
The Greek leader said that India and Greece should proceed with the India-Middle East Economic Corridor (IMEC), despite the Israeli war in Gaza.

India’s Leadership Across Key Spheres

The Greek leader hailed India’s leadership across diverse spheres like climate change partnerships, pioneering digital public goods globally, stewarding globalisation and economic growth as G20 President and voice for developing countries.

Scope for Further Cooperation

Areas identified for elevating future India-Greece cooperation during the visionary addresses included security in Mediterranean and Indo-Pacific regions, blue economy policy exchanges, infrastructure development, public health, immigration frameworks, culture and tourism promotion etc.
Over 100 countries are represented by ministers, military heads, captains of industry, academics and media editors at 2024 Raisina Dialogue which promises insightful policy perspectives through debates and discussions on ongoing global conflicts, technology adoption, healthcare access, economic priorities and sustainability.

Previous Edition

The eighth edition of Raisina held from 2 March to 4 March 2023, in person. It focused on four pillars – Neo Insurgence, Amoral Mosiac, Chaotic Codes, Pernicious Passports, and Grey Rhinos. Prime Minister of Italy Giorgia Meloni was the chief guest.
