1st Delta Ranking of ABP

Tiriyani Block in Kumuram Bheem Asifabad district, Telangana, clinched the top spot in the inaugural delta rankings of the Aspirational Blocks Programme (ABP) as announced by NITI Aayog. This achievement was unveiled during a virtual event at NITI Aayog, featuring the participation of 329 districts and 500 aspirational blocks nationwide.

Top Performers

The second position was secured by Kaushambi block in Kaushambi District, Uttar Pradesh. These rankings, based on Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), reflect the performance and progress of blocks during June 2023. This competitive approach aligns with the cooperative federalism spirit, marking the first-ever ranking within the Aspirational Blocks Programme.

ADP Rankings

In addition to ABP, the ADP rankings for October 2023 were also announced. Rayagada (Odisha) and Jamui (Bihar) claimed the first and second positions, respectively. The top achievers in thematic and overall categories were honored during the event.

Wall of Fame Inauguration

A novel initiative involves displaying the top rankers of ABP and ADP on the Wall of Fame at NITI Aayog. This wall showcases the endeavors and projects undertaken by the aspirational blocks and districts to enhance their indicators and achieve notable progress. Honorable Vice Chairman and Members of NITI Aayog inaugurated the Wall of Fame, highlighting key milestones and envisioning a developed Bharat by 2047.

Geographical Divisions

The aspirational blocks have been geographically divided into six zones, with two blocks from each zone receiving rankings.

Zone 1: Hilly and North-eastern States

  • Amri block, West Karbi Anglong, Assam (1st position)
  • Ngopa block, Saitual Mizoram (2nd position)

Zone 2: Northern Indian States

  • Harraiya block, Basti, Uttar Pradesh (1st position)
  • Virno block, Ghazipur, Uttar Pradesh (2nd position)

Zone 3: Southern States

  • Maski block, Raichur, Karnataka (1st position)
  • Narnoor, Adilabad, Telangana (2nd position)

Zone 4: Western Indian States

  • Sironcha and Aheri blocks, Gadchiroli district, Maharashtra (1st position)

Zone 5: Central India

  • Tirla block, Dhar district, Madhya Pradesh (1st position)
  • Pati block, Barwani District, Madhya Pradesh (2nd position)

Zone 6: Eastern India

  • Andar, Siwan, Bihar (1st position)
  • Ramgarh, Dumka, Jharkhand (2nd position)

Recognition and Prizes

Winners in each zone will be felicitated with a prize amount of Rs. 1.5 crores for the top rank and Rs. 1 crore for the second rank. This acknowledgment celebrates the achievements of the best-performing aspirational blocks and districts across the country.

Aspirational Blocks Programme (ABP)

Launched on January 7, 2023, ABP aims to enhance the quality of life in the most challenging and underdeveloped blocks of India. The program includes 500 blocks from 329 districts across 27 states and 4 Union Territories. ABP’s strategy focuses on convergence, defining outcomes, and constant monitoring through 40 chosen Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) grouped into 5 themes.
