“Jago Grahak Jago” Campaign
The Department of Consumer Affairs is actively engaged in nationwide multimedia awareness campaigns titled “Jago Grahak Jago”. These campaigns aim to inform consumers about fraudulent practices and common issues while providing guidance on seeking redressal.
Diverse Outreach Channels
The awareness initiatives utilize various media platforms, including print media, TV, radio, cinema theatres, websites, hoardings, and display boards. To reach people in rural and backward areas, the Department actively participates in fairs, festivals, and events across different states and union territories.
Grant-in-Aid for Local Awareness
To enhance awareness at the grassroots level, the Department releases Grant-in-Aid to States and UTs for conducting consumer awareness activities with a focus on local content.
The Power of Social Media
Leveraging digital channels, the Department employs social media to disseminate information. Professional management ensures that creative content, emphasizing consumer rights and redressal mechanisms, is consistently posted on the department’s social media channels.
Strengthening Consumer Commissions
The Central Government provides financial assistance under the scheme ‘Strengthening Consumer Commissions’ to enhance the infrastructure of Consumer Commissions at the District and State levels.
CONFONET
The Department operates the scheme ‘Computerization and Computer Networking of Consumer Commissions in the country (CONFONET)’ to fully computerize all Consumer Commissions. This initiative ensures quick access to information and facilitates the speedy disposal of cases.
edaakhil.nic.in
The development of the “edaakhil.nic.in” online application portal enables consumers and advocates to file complaints online, promoting convenience and accessibility. Currently operational in 35 States/UTs, this portal enhances the ease of submitting consumer complaints.
