IndiaSkills 2023-24 Launched
Union Minister for Education and Skill Development & Entrepreneurship, Shri Dharmendra Pradhan, officially launched IndiaSkills 2023-24 and honored the winners of World Skills 2022 at an event held in Kaushal Bhawan, New Delhi. IndiaSkills serves as a stepping stone to the renowned WorldSkills competition. This national competition offers participants a chance to showcase their talents on the global stage, with the next WorldSkills event set to take place in Paris. WorldSkills, the world’s largest skill competition, is organized by WorldSkills International, encompassing 86 member countries.
Why WorldSkills Matters
- Benchmark for Excellence: These competitions establish a benchmark for exceptional skills and serve as a yardstick for assessing vocational excellence in the workforce.
- Industry and Academic Partners: The competitions receive support from more than 200 industry and academic partners, including prominent names like Toyota Kirloskar, Mahindra, Saint Gobain, Larsen & Toubro, Maruti Suzuki, and Infosys.
WorldSkills 2022 Highlights
- Global Participation: In 2022, the WorldSkills competition welcomed over 1,000 competitors from 58 countries, competing in 61 different skills.
- India’s Involvement: India took part in an impressive 50 skills, showcasing its prowess in a diverse range of fields.
- Embracing New-Age Skills: India’s participation featured cutting-edge skills such as robot system integration, additive manufacturing, industry 4.0, digital construction, mobile application development, and renewable energy.
- A Remarkable Achievement: India achieved its best-ever ranking, securing the 11th position, a significant improvement since it began participating in 2007.
