UNICEF Celebrates Milestone of One Million Certifications on International Day of the Girl Child

The Secretary of the Department of School Education & Literacy, Ministry of Education, joined a UNICEF-organized online program on October 11, 2023, the UN International Day of the Girl Child, to mark the achievement of one million certifications in its Passport to Earning (P2E) program.

Empowering India’s Youth

UNICEF’s Passport to Earning (P2E) program, a global learning-to-earning initiative, has successfully trained and certified over one million young individuals in India. These certifications encompass essential skills in financial literacy and digital productivity, equipping them for the future workforce and life. Notably, 62% of beneficiaries are adolescent girls and young women.

Supporting National Education Policy

P2E aligns with India’s National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, offering free access to certificate courses covering digital productivity, financial literacy, employability skills, and other in-demand job-ready skills. It caters to various learning preferences, including online, hybrid, and offline modes.

A Vision for the Future

The P2E digital learning platform aspires to provide long-term, sustainable skilling to five million youths aged 14-29 in India by 2024, connecting them with opportunities in employment, self-employment, and entrepreneurship to achieve financial independence.

UNICEF’s Commitment

UNICEF’s belief in empowering girls and young women through skills and economic opportunities. The P2E program’s achievement of training a million young people, with a majority being young women, supports the Government of India’s vision of ‘Nari Shakti’ (woman power) and contributes to achieving the Agenda 2030 goals.
