Noida 2.0 Master Plan
The master plan for the Dadri-Noida-Ghaziabad Investment Region (DNGIR), often referred to as Noida 2.0, has taken an innovative approach by introducing a “no relocation policy” for the current population within the region. Unlike conventional projects, this plan aims to integrate existing rural communities into the evolving industrial and economic landscape set to emerge by 2041.
Vision of Noida 2.0
Noida 2.0, an extension of Noida in the National Capital Region (NCR), addresses the growing challenge of limited space for industrial expansion. The 2041 master plan focuses on a transformative vision, emphasizing the seamless integration of residential areas with the region’s upcoming developments.
Incorporating Existing Communities
In a departure from traditional approaches, Noida 2.0’s master plan is dedicated to absorbing the existing rural population into emerging industries and sectors. This inclusive strategy aims to enhance the quality of life for the region’s inhabitants, particularly farmers, by creating a multitude of job opportunities, particularly in the food production sector.
Population Growth and Employment Opportunities
The master plan predicts a significant population increase in Noida 2, from 1.5 lakh in 2011 to a projected 6.3 lakh by 2041. Remarkably, the plan envisions that at least 40% of this expanded population will secure employment in industrial and service sectors.
Key Features of Noida 2
- Expansive Area: Noida 2 spans over 20,911 hectares, encompassing 84 villages across Gautam Budh Nagar and Bulandshahr districts.
- Land Allocation: The plan designates 40% of the land for industrial use and 17% for residential development.
- Strategic Location: Noida 2 benefits from its proximity to the Noida international airport, the Yamuna Expressway, and critical infrastructure projects, including a logistics and multi-modal transport hub.
Workforce and Housing Solutions
With a substantial portion of the population expected to work in industries, there are plans to construct affordable housing solutions to meet their needs.
Phased Development
The ambitious development of Noida 2 will unfold in five phases. The initial phase, beginning next year with the acquisition of 1,433 hectares, will conclude by 2028, focusing on essential infrastructure development. Subsequent phases, spanning from late 2028 to 2047, will include commercial hubs, industrial zones, and residential areas, supported by the eastern peripheral railway line.
