Upgradation at Tezu Airport

Union Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya M Scindia inaugurated the newly upgraded Tezu airport in Arunachal Pradesh’s Lohit district on Sunday. This significant development marks a historic day for the region and is expected to boost economic activity and connectivity in the Northeast.

Key Highlights

The capital investment of this project is Rs 170 crore and it spans across a 40,000 square foot area.
The project includes runway extension, a modern apron, a new terminal building, and a fire station with an Air Traffic Control (ATC) Tower.
The upgraded terminal can accommodate 300 passengers at peak hours and can handle two ATR aircraft simultaneously.
The runway has been extended to 1,500 meters to accommodate larger aircraft.
The terminal building showcases local art and culture, adding to its beauty and significance.

About Tezu Airport

Tezu Airport, initially operationalized in 2018 under the RCS UDAN scheme, has undergone a significant transformation. It will be the fourth in Arunachal Pradesh to operate civil flights, contributing to the economic development of the region.

Tezu Airport is currently connected to Dibrugarh, Imphal, and Guwahati through regular scheduled flights by Alliance Air and Flybig airline. This enhanced connectivity is expected to facilitate travel and trade in the region.
