‘Ama Odisha, Naveen Odisha’ Scheme
The Odisha Cabinet recently approved the ‘Ama Odisha Nabin Odisha’ scheme, allocating a budget of Rs 4,000 crore. The scheme aims to enhance rural infrastructure and preserve the rich cultural heritage of the state, particularly the Jagannath culture.
Augmenting Rural Infrastructure
Under the ‘Ama Odisha Nabin Odisha’ scheme, Gram Panchayats have been empowered to undertake various works worth up to Rs 10 lakh. This includes the preservation and protection of local places of worship, historical sites, and other essential infrastructure needs. The objective is to bridge the gap in education infrastructure, provide internet connectivity, establish playgrounds, science parks, and training facilities. The scheme also aims to develop work hubs, skill centers, and banking facilities to support rural entrepreneurs, with a special focus on women.
Promoting the Jagannath Culture
Odisha has a rich cultural heritage rooted in the Jagannath culture, which encompasses universal love, service, and equality, transcending caste and community. The ‘Ama Odisha Nabin Odisha’ scheme seeks to preserve and protect this cultural heritage, ensuring its continuity for future generations. It recognizes the significance of local places of worship, historical sites, and the promotion of the Jagannath tradition. The scheme aligns with Odisha’s commitment to preserving its cultural identity and showcasing it to the world.
Implementation through Panchayati Raj Institutions
At the grassroots level, the implementation of the ‘Ama Odisha Nabin Odisha’ scheme will be carried out by the Panchayati Raj Institutions. These institutions will play a pivotal role in executing the various works identified under the scheme. Their involvement ensures community participation, local governance, and effective utilization of resources, making the scheme more inclusive and impactful.
