National Conference on ‘Foundational Literacy and Numeracy’

The city of Pune recently hosted a two-day national conference on foundational literacy and numeracy, which served as a pre-cursor event to the highly anticipated G-20 4th Education Working Group Meeting. The conference aimed to bring together representatives from various states and union territories (UTs), along with experts from diverse fields, to delve into the crucial topic of capacity building and training of teachers in blended mode.

The Significance of the Conference 

  • The national conference held in Pune set the stage for discussions and deliberations on foundational literacy and numeracy, laying the groundwork for educational advancements.  
  • By focusing on capacity building and training of teachers in blended mode, the conference aimed to equip educators with the necessary tools and techniques to enhance students’ foundational skills in literacy and numeracy. 

The G-20 4th Education Working Group Meeting 

  • The national conference served as a pre-cursor event to the G-20 4th Education Working Group Meeting, a significant gathering that will witness the participation of 85 delegates from G-20 member countries.  
  • This meeting will be a platform for policymakers, education experts, and representatives from prominent organizations such as OECD, UNESCO, and UNICEF to exchange ideas and collaborate on advancing education globally.
